ABSTRACT
The concept of culture has become increasingly important in the discourse of educational leadership and management. It is usually applied to individual organizations rather than to nation-states. The notion that each school, college, or university is unique underpins and supports the growing significance of culture. The combination of values, beliefs, rituals, symbols, and heroes that represents the specific culture of each organization is thought to differentiate it from other schools, even those in the immediate vicinity.
