ABSTRACT

Audio is an integral part of the job and an integral component of the Xpress Pro’s editing capabilities. This chapter discusses some of the basic concepts of editing and mixing audio with good craftsmanship. Unlike previous Avid products, Xpress Pro audio dissolves are real-time effects. Output Settings calls up the Output Setting tab of the Audio Projects setting. In the Audio Project Setting’s Output tab, there are three Bypass buttons: Clip Gain, RT EQ, and Auto Gain. The faders in Auto Gain tool look very similar to the faders in the Audio Mix tool. AudioSuite plug-ins allow professional editors to access third-party audio filters and effects from within Xpress Pro. The Xpress Pro Help menu has complete information about the operation of the individual AudioSuite plug-ins that ship with Xpress Pro. Audio is one of those places where an editor’s sense of craftsmanship really shows.
