ABSTRACT

The trim tools— Roll and Ripple, Slip and Slide—are among the tools. The first two trim tools, Ripple and Roll, change the duration of clips, and the second two, Slip and Slide, leave the clip duration intact. In these cases, the Roll tool may work better for Viewer. Although the Ripple tool changes the overall length of the sequence by moving everything up and down the line, the Roll tool only affects the two adjacent shots. The overall duration of the clip remains unchanged, but the section of media for that duration is adjusted. The Slide tool can be brought out with SS(S twice). Like the Slip tool, it also works in the Timeline, although not in the Viewer. A static shot, either close-up or medium shot, needs to be on the screen a much shorter time than a long shot in which the audience is following a movement.
