ABSTRACT

There are five types of video cables: BNC, S-Video, RCA, coaxial, and component. The BNC cable is commonly used with the more expensive professional equipment. Sometimes it is referred to as composite. It’s not important to know what composite means; just be aware of the term. The S-Video cable has four pins inside the collar on both ends. These pins are arranged in a trapezoidal pattern. RCA video cable is the most basic connection for video. It is usually color-coded yellow for video. It is sometimes referred to as phono or composite video cable. Coaxial cable is most commonly used for hooking up cable TV, satellite, or VCRs to television sets. Component cables may have three RCA- or three BNC-style connectors on the ends of the cable. The BNC version has been used for high-end professional equipment. The RCA version is now being used for hooking up DVD players and high-definition television tuner boxes.
