ABSTRACT

Hot Spots: Film Folks Be Vigilant! Hot spots in the picture are one problem you always need to be watching for. These are often reflections on shiny surfaces that must be killed because they generally produce a region of clipped white in the final video. Camera operators and DPs with a film background are already used to watching for hot spots, but because overexposure is more obvious in video, vigilance must be increased. In fact, this is a problem area for many film DPs who go over to the digital format.
