ABSTRACT

Surprisingly few films are made using nothing but dialog recorded at the shoot. Most documentaries and sales or training pieces have voice-over narrations, of course. But many people don’t realize that most feature films and TV movies replace at least some of the production dialog with voices recorded in post. It’s common practice on big-budget projects to loop or ADR scenes where location problems or noisy effects machines make good recording impossible. When looping is done properly, the studio tracks fit the actors’ lips perfectly and sound completely convincing.
