Back in the days of analog, you’d sometimes hear a radio station run a record at the wrong speed. If it was too fast, the sounds would be jammed together and come out in a little chipmunk voice.1 If it was too slow, everything would be deep and s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d o-u-t. These effects became a comic cliché.
