ABSTRACT

Introduction Understand this: a camera is just a tool. Nothing more, nothing less. Simply having the latest greatest technology in your hands is worthless if you don’t have the

knowledge and skills to make it consistently perform at its best. If I gave you Lance

Armstrong’s bike or Tiger Woods’ golf clubs do you think you could suddenly go out

and win the Tour de France or the PGA Championship? (The answer is no.) Well that

notion is just as ridiculous as the notion that by merely having the best camera, you

can shoot the best fi lm. Don’t worry about getting the best camera . . . worry about

getting the best camera work. Your camera is your tool. Your camera work is the culmination of your knowledge

and skills. Reading books, studying DVDs and taking classes can build your

knowledge. Experience shooting will build your skills and expand your knowledge.
