ABSTRACT

On many projects I have used video cameras to create elements to be incorporated into film composites. Shooting elements on video is a very fast, money-saving option compared to renting an expensive film camera. In some cases (depending on the digital camera) there may be issues with low color space that create difficulty for the digital compositors later on, but there are ways to shoot that can alleviate this potential problem. What follows are some methods of shooting digital video elements for motion pictures that I have used. These methods can be used for lower-end video projects as well.
