ABSTRACT

The production designer starts planning the look of a film from the first reading of the script. He or she aims for a design that is visually eloquent about the script’s characters, settings, predicaments, and moods. This involves conceiving a complete world with all its characters, costumes, settings, furniture, properties, and color schemes. If your film is set in the present or the recent past, you can produce integrated settings at low cost by working with property and costume masters who are good at finding furniture, clothing, and properties through resale shops and junk stores. The final design is an important part of your Storyteller’s point of view.
