Lining up a meeting to pitch ideas can happen in a couple of ways. The most common is that your agent has sent your spec script around to various shows, and the producers have read your work, liked it, and are anxious to hear your ideas for their show. So they extend an invitation for you to come in and pitch. The other way to generate a pitch meeting is through your own personal contacts. Usually, in this case, producers will have read your work ahead of time as well.
