ABSTRACT

It’s Friday night. All over America, thousands of people are getting off work and going to the movies. Many are paying $8.00 to see a quirky romantic comedy. Some are paying $16.00 to see an action flick in IMAX and 3D. Others are paying $3.50 for an arthouse film in a second-run theater. But how did each movie get there? Why do some make it to theaters and others don’t? How does an indie film travel a different path than a studio film? And how are agents and managers involved in this process?
