SURPRISING THINGS ABOUT PEOPLE Trevorappeared tobeoneof life’smisfits.Hewasavery slowandreluctant learner; he caused disruption in class by his rudeness and his unwillingness to engage in anything any teacher wanted him to do, and generally proved himself to be lacking in any practical, physical, or academic skills. He also came fromapoor, uncaring family, was very overweight, and had few social graces. When it was time for music, he would barge into my room,make a beeline for the drumkit, and play it regardless of whether I had given permission to him to do so. He also came into themusic room at lunchtime and other conceivably free moments to connect somehow with the music department. We eventually came to a compromise about his being in the department, when I found out that he was often cutting physical education lessons and games sessions.
