Duringthepast20yearstherehasbeenadramaticincreaseinroll on/rolloff(Ro/Ro)tonnageforthemovementofwheeledcargo suchastheTIRtrailer(12.2minlength),thearticulateddriveraccompaniedvehicleoftentermedajuggernaut(15.5minlength andagrossweightofupto44tonnes),thetradecar,agricultural equipment,theswapbodyandtheMAFItrailer.Combicarriersare multi-purposecargovesselsforwheeledcargoandcontainers, indivisibleloadsandbreakbulkcargo.Multi-purposevesselsgenerallycarrypassengerwheeledtraffic.AtypicalexampleoftheRo/ Rovesselisthe1200TEUverymuchusedinthefeederservicesfor thehubandspokesystemintheglobalcontainernetwork(seepages 173-179).
