ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with FX/plug-ins that come standard with Vegas Pro or Vegas Movie Studio. Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio both have huge arsenals when it comes to color correction weapons. Both are more than adequate tools for features, documentaries, television projects, or commercial projects destined for television, mobile devices, or the Web. The Video Scopes in Vegas Pro provide a means of measuring and analyzing video output levels to ensure that they meet legal broadcast standards for SD. The easy explanation of scopes is to think of Vectorscopes as being used for measuring color and saturation, whereas waveform monitors are used to measure light. Making video look more film-like requires starting at the lens and the shooting aspects of the production. Managing the camera correctly is half the battle in getting a good film-like appearance from the digital information.
