ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the concepts and laws associated with magnetic fields and their application to magnetic circuits and materials.
On completion of the chapter you should be able to:
1 Describe the forces of attraction and repulsion between magnetised bodies. 2 Define the various magnetic properties and quantities, and use them to solve simple
series magnetic circuit problems. 3 Appreciate the effect of magnetic hysteresis, and the properties of different types of
magnetic material.
