Earth electrode is is a conductive part that is imbedded in soil or in concrete, etc., and so is in contact with the earth.

An earth electrode may be any of the following: • Earth rods or pipes • Earth tapes or wires • Underground structural metalwork in foundations • Metal reinforcement of concrete imbedded in the earth • Some lead sheaths or other metal coverings of cables • A metal water pipe (not a utility pipe), provided precautions have been taken to

avoid its removal and it has been considered for such use • Other suitable underground metalwork.
