ABSTRACT

This chapter tries to give an idea of the range of pest species seen in horticulture, from the deer down to the nematode. In addition to descriptions of damage and control, the link between life cycle and controls is highlighted in an attempt to make the control more meaningful. The differing attitudes within the horticultural community to the use of chemical controls are addressed. Control measures and their impact on humans and the environment are dealt with in more detail in Chapter 15.
