Success or failure in controlling an emergency depends on how the crew perform. To be effective the action has to be orderly and informed. In times of peril when even the firmest discipline is likely to falter, order, which stems from confidence, is only possible with a complete understanding of the action and equipment. This comes from regular instruction and training.
