ABSTRACT
There are two Cospas-Sarsat systems. One
operates at 121.5 MHz (VHF) whilst the other
operates at 406 MHz (UHF). The Cospas-Sarsat
121.5 MHz system uses low earth orbit (LEO)
polar-orbiting satellites together with associated
ground receiving stations. The basic system is
shown in Figure 7.7.
