ABSTRACT
The angular difference between the heading
and track is referred to as the drift angle (quoted
as being to port/left or starboard/right of the
heading). If the wind direction were in the same
direction as the aircraft heading, i.e. a tail wind,
the aircraft speed of 300 knots through the air
would equate to a ground speed of 310 knots.
