ABSTRACT

Ram Lifts Several oil-operated ram lifts were used in the early days and may still be used in other countries, but in the United States they are no longer popular. Although some models can go very high (55 feet or more), the weight and size of these lifts have usually prohibited their use for touring. Load capacities of 500 to 1600 pounds can defi nitely be an advantage, but they have the same disadvantages as a Genie Tower: If the load is not directly over the column, the seals are broken and the unit could leak oil or slip.
