ABSTRACT
A Null Start code is still used to signify that a packet of data contains dimmer level data (or any parameter level data), ensuring compatibility with legacy (existing) equipment. If the Start code is anything other than the null set, it is known as an Alternate Start code (ASC). There are 256 possible Start codes, each signifying a unique instruction.
