ABSTRACT

Turning (rotating) is one of the basic forms of movement. It can be performed by individual parts of the body, or by the body as a whole, revolving as a unit, as in a pivot turn. A pivot turn is a revolution around one's own vertical axis. Pivot turns are performed to the right (clockwise) or to the left (counterclockwise or anticlockwise). The symbol for turning is a parallelogram whose slanting lines indicate the direction of the turn.
