ABSTRACT

Perspective is one of those things that Photoshop artists either love or hate. The correct use of perspective makes all the difference between a montage that looks convincing, and one that readers will examine with a sense of unease. And yet it’s easy enough to learn the few simple rules that make working with perspective a pleasure rather than a chore. With the extreme perspective, the sheet of paper, the text and the door frame all had to fit in with the typewriter’s perspective or it would have made no sense to the reader. This chapter looks at vanishing points, and how they can be used to enable us to create convincing three-dimensional images. With practice, the readers don’t need to draw in the perspective lines at all: after a while they get to the stage where they can imagine where they are without having to see them exactly.
