ABSTRACT

Almost all Photoshop cutouts involve a variety of techniques, especially if they’re images of people. The techniques are ‘advanced’ only in the sense that they’ll be of little interest to beginners. But some techniques involve using multiple filters together: applying them one after the other would involve too much guesswork. The good thing about the Refine Edge technique is that the background image can be swapped for a different one at any time: running the Displace filter again will produce the desired glassy effect. Brushes comprises individual bristles that work as independent tips, producing multi-colored painting techniques previously unseen in Photoshop. This chapter looks at techniques for extracting a shadow from its background. But sometimes, an object will have been photographed with a particularly fine shadow. But there is still a straightforward solution that produces a shadow with true transparency.
