ABSTRACT

People say that there was once upon a time a poor woodcutter whomade his living by carrying wood on his shoulders from the forest tosell in the city. One morning, while he was on his way to the city, he heard some cries and moans. So he went toward the place where he

heard the cries, and when he arrived, he saw a deep hole. A wolf had fallen into it, and on top of him there was a large rock so that he could not get out. When the wolf saw the woodcutter, he said, “Do me a favor, and get me out of here, and I’ll return the favor.”
