ABSTRACT
Having flown many times above England’s fields in Tobi’s little butterfly plane, this picture is especially significant to me. I t is a difficult experience t o describe. This image, taken at 10 000 feet above Shobden airfield, shows the wonderful freedom of being airborne. The chances of getting a successful picture using an extremely cumbersome panoramic camera, while the instructor controlled the flying from behind, makes this shot a one-off. The youngest person in Britain to hold a license t o fly flies the plane in front. Flying while open to the elements is absolutely breathtaking.
