ABSTRACT

Aspect Ratio, the second setting on the list, allows you to choose between the sensor’s actual size and the optional cropped mode, 16:9. This mode equates to the aspect ratio of most modern HDTVs, and produces files that are smaller in pixel count than 3:2 mode. Press the OK button to get the pull-down menu and press the Down arrow to

select 16:9. Unless you have a particular reason to use this mode, I advise shooting in 3:2, because all you’re doing is cropping the sensor’s outputsomething you can do post-capture on a computer. Should you choose to use this mode, there are four horizontal lines in the viewfinder that delineate the 16:9 imaging area.
