ABSTRACT
Problems at the level of the image file generally show up as posterization. This is a situation where smooth tonal gradients in the original image show up as abrupt, stair-stepped transitions in the final print. A few short years ago, posterization was a serious concern when working with digital negatives. Fortunately, if you use the tools described in this book, the problem can be essentially eliminated.
