ABSTRACT
Ideally, photographic processes would be simple. Forget for a minute that photographic processes are usually negative — the densities in the print are reversed from the negative. It would be ideal if the highlights in the negative mapped directly to similar highlights on the print, and the same for mid-tones and shadows (Figure 2-1).
