ABSTRACT
This chapter1 describes variation in Iraqi Arabic political discourse. I will attempt to see how variation works and which linguistic features from the phonology (P), morphophonology (MPP), syntax (S) and lexicon (L) are affected in a speech of Saddam Hussein. It will appear that variation is not random but largely predictable. As in chapter three, language functions will be analyzed vis-a-vis language forms used by the speaker.
