ABSTRACT
The Theoretical Foundation In the cultural tradition of China, aesthetic s and social consciousness have a close relationship, especially during periods of political disruption; for example during dynastic changes, brush-stroke styles were used to indicate loyalty to the old or new dynasty. In the modern revolutionary period this relationship is reaffirmed even though the criteria for aesthetic values and social consciousness have changed.
