ABSTRACT
At the opening of IV.v. of Marston’s The Malcontent, the disguised Duke Pietro and the double-disguised Malevole enter ‘at several doors’, and Pietro launches himself into two lines of rhetorical lamentation. He is cut short by Malevole:
O, do not rant, do not turn player. There’s more of them than can well live by one another already.
