“Sound” is an English-based word. “Audio” is derived from Latin, and refers to
things that are related to hearing. Sound does not necessarily have to be audible.
Infrasound and ultrasound, which are below and above the normal range of
human hearing, respectively, are examples of inaudible sounds.
