ABSTRACT

The Evangelical worship style is identified by the centrality of the desire to preach or to proclaim the Gospel. The word evangelical * is a compound word combining two Greek words, eu meaning good and angelion meaning message. The word Gospel is also a compound word from old English, meaning good news. These are the churches that focus on the message that salvation from eternal damnation is possible thorough Christ. This is the “good news” or Gospel. On the surface, most every Christian church will insist that dissemination of the Gospel is at the heart of what they do. But when we examine the Sunday morning service and how the church building is used we can see significant differences. The gospel

The Gospel, or Good News, is the heart of all true Christianity. In a nutshell, the Good News is that although all humanity has sinned and grieved God, God has provided a way for reconciliation and salvation resulting in eternal life in heaven. This provision is through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who although sinless Himself made Himself a perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. This core belief is held with some nuance of difference by all who call themselves Christian. The belief in this Gospel along with the beliefs outlined in the Nicene Creed (see Chapter 3) constitute the essential dogma of the Christian faith.
