ABSTRACT

We have examined the Celebratory style and recognize centrality of the Eucharist and the role that the architecture and acoustics play in the celebration of the Holy Mystery. In the evangelical style, the preaching of the Word must be supported by the acoustics and the architecture. We now examine the Experiential style of worship. As we have seen in Chapter 13, there are two forms of experiential worship, the Pentecostal and the Seeker Sensitive. There are some important differences with respect to optimal architecture for each, but the acoustical requirements are very similar. When the elements of experiential worship are examined, it is undeniable that music emerges as a very important element.
