One important rule that most people don’t consider:
if you play a club where the power system is dodgy –
any club in Ibiza, Ayia Napa, Bangkok, etc., or even
some wee American towns – spikes and surges will
appear in the power system that could destroy your
kit. I once lost three laptops in one night to power
surges in a club in Crete. If you’re taking your own kit,
consider taking a surge protector.
