ABSTRACT

For example, I still have a Yamaha DX7II synthesizer, a KX88 weighted MIDI Master Keyboard, and a flightcase containing a Yamaha TX816, TX802, and TX81Z, a Roland MKS80 and MKS70, with a Mark of the Unicorn MIDI Express XT interface to connect these to my computer and a Yamaha 03D mixing console that I use as a submixer. These synthesizers are my 1980s legacy, as anyone who is familiar with these instruments will instantly realize. Of course, Yamaha and Roland are still making hardware synthesizers today along with more recent arrivals such as Novation and Clavia.
