ABSTRACT

The purpose of this book has been to assemble and review the science relevant to sound reproduction and use this as guidance in designing loudspeakers, rooms, and multichannel systems-in other words, listening experiences. For those readers who have struggled through the saga to this point, the following recommendations will come as logical conclusions. For those who have started here, there may be some surprises, some points of difference with acoustical rituals and practices of an industry that has evolved without a lot of scientifi c leadership. The science has been there, but some of it has been undiscovered, and, until this book, little of it has been organized to be useful from an audio perspective.
