ABSTRACT
In this chapter Mel Ainscow reflects on the ideas he has had, at various stages in his career, about how to tackle difficulties in learning in schools. He discusses the perspectives he acquired as a head of a special school for pupils categorised as having moderate learning difficulties, as a local authority adviser on special needs and in his present job involved in the in-service training of teachers.
