ABSTRACT

Team Role Interview: Voice Actor Please introduce yourself, your role, and the game team(s) that you have been part of. My name is Stephen Kearin and I am the Co-Creator of Simlish, the language spoken by The Sims. I voiced all the principal male characters in the first game The Sims, as well as one of the principal male voices in The Sims 2.0. How did you get your start in the games industry? How did you come to be a member of The Sims team? I was living in San Francisco in the late 1990s, and I was very established in the improvisation community at that time. I started training in 1986, and over the years I worked with Bay Area Theatresports, Pulp Playhouse, Improv Theatre, True Fiction Magazine and was a founding member of 3 For All. One element of my work that I had developed over the years was providing sound effects for improv scenes, and I even taught a regular class on the subject at Theatresports.
