ABSTRACT

Manufacturers of mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) are making moves into each other’s markets by launching integrated products. The user interface of these systems varies greatly. Some believe that it is the mobile phone vendors who will win in the long run, because they are masters of some very demanding technology and established channels into their market.

Most people carry a mobile phone but not so many carry a PDA.This indicates that users will expect convergent devices to be the same size and weight as conventional mobile phones. But, to take advantage of the PDA functionality, consumers will want a larger screen and the level of usability they now experience with PDA user interfaces.
