ABSTRACT

Animation scripts probably won’t have numbered scenes on them. It’s important to number your boards for easy reference. Final scene numbering will be handled by production sometime during the preproduction process. In 3D animation live-action, scene numbers advance each time there is a change in location or time. In 2D animation, background changes signal a new scene number because new backgrounds have to be drawn for each shot. If you have a wide shot, cut to a close-up, and then go back to the first wide shot, that’s actually three separate scenes in 2D animation.
