ABSTRACT

In traditional paper animation, you moved artwork under a stationary camera, so to achieve a north-west move you moved the artwork on the table southeast. In digital animation, the virtual camera now moves around the subjects, much like a live action camera. Previously diffi cult tracking shots, like handheld camera or racking the focus from foreground to background, can now be done with relative ease. In the past you had to describe the movement to the camera, now the camera describes itself to you by immediate playback.
