ABSTRACT

Modeling and UV-ing with Modo I used spider references as backdrops to aid modeling and modeled the body of the spider by way of symmetrical box modeling. I created one leg by extruding it from the body, then used it as a base for the other legs. The legs were only modeled on one side, and then mirrored to the other side after creating the UV map. This way, I saved texture space because the pairs of legs would occupy the same co-ordinates on the texture map. I did a little tuning on the topology of the nished model so that the polygon density would be even for sculpting in ZBrush. I also corrected the bodyparts anatomically, using the references (Fig.01).
