A professional pitch will vary between publishers, but TokyoPop, the king of Original English Language, has a good model that can be easily transplanted to other companies. The submissions guidelines vary quite a bit from TokyoPop’s standard submissions process, but it’s just as valid a path into paying work for the company. TokyoPop includes sample pencils to ink over at the aforementioned website. TokyoPop likes concepts that work as multi-book series rather than standalone volumes, though each individual volume needs to stand alone and should have a clear beginning, middle, and end. The mechanical specs are identical to the standard TokyoPop submission process. TokyoPop considers the penciller to be the visual team leader.
