ABSTRACT

RSS feeds have become very popular as tools for organizations that have continuously updatable information, such as newspapers or databases. An RSS feed is an XML document that provides short descriptions of news content together with a link to the full version of the content. While the structures of RSS feeds are very similar, there are slight differences, which have to be adjusted when a reader is developed. The developers start the script by importing several classes. One of them (External Interface) is needed to open the JavaScript window, and three other unfamiliar classes (Multi Line Cell, Multi Line Cell_2, Multi Line Header) are needed to render the cells from the DataGrid. The DataGrid component requires a second script to render the cells, which is called by a MovieClip in the library and is the cellRenderer property of the DataGrid. All MovieClips will have a class path to the corresponding cell-renderer classes located in the Scripts.
