Expressions are one of the most powerful features of After Effects. An Expressions is essentially a small script that can be added to a property to control its value, but please don’t let that ‘S’ word put you off using them. I can sympathize totally with anyone who feels like running a mile right now. The word ‘script’ can be enough to send any creative person off running for cover. Although you can use After Effects without ever needing to venture into the world of scripting, learning how to use them is fairly easy and is guaranteed to change the way you use After Effects in the future, and all for the better.
