The production phase is an ideal time to build a customized SFX library. This involves field recording and pulling SFX from existing libraries. It is important to develop documentation procedures so each file can be easily located in the event media gets lost or corrupted. The acquisition of effects can be guided by the animatic. Sounds that address significant narrative issues have the greatest likelihood of being used in the final mix.
